Cat Training and Behavior

Did you know you can teach your cat to respond to basic cues and walk on a leash?

Positive reinforcement works to encourage the behavior you want (such as only scratching the post you've provided) and discourages behavior that's not desirable (like scratching your sofa). You can also use behavior modification techniques to help your cat get over her fear and anxiety.

Nirvana Tails Training

All services begin with an initial consultation. When you schedule your initial consultation, you’ll receive a form to detail you pet’s history so our time together will be as beneficial as possible.

During the 90-minute session we’ll review a training plan based on your pet and your individual situation.  At the end of the session, I’ll outline which service package will best meet your needs to achieve your goals.

Ongoing, individualized training will be tailored specifically for your pet. All sessions after the initial consultation will be 60 minutes.

Training Options

All feline behavior and training consultations are conducted via Zoom.
Most cats are either:
  • Terrified of strangers, and run and hide when new people come to their home; or
  • Extremely friendly and outgoing, only interested in meeting this new person and soliciting pets and treats.
Neither of these are conducive to the focus and attention ideal for an initial meeting, and they can also cause your cat undue and unnecessary stress and anxiety. Virtual sessions are the most effective way to work with you and your cat(s).

Rates

Initial consultation:
90-minute virtual consultation: $260.

Follow-ups:
60 minutes: $190

All training sessions are available at a discount in multi-session packages (for coaching) or for multiple weeks (for day training).

All types of behavior issues can be addressed. These are the most common.

  • Litter box avoidance/house soiling
  • Shy/timid behavior
  • Scratching on furniture
  • Socialization with other animals
  • Aggressive behavior to other pets
  • Aggressive behavior to people
  • Acting out due to environmental stress

I just wanted to follow up and say that you’re a great advice and training work! [sic] Naomi slept on my bed last night for the first time! She is jumping all over the place upstairs and seems to be really happy. She still a little skittish and scared but we did the hard part and she will calm down now--we did it! Thank you so much!!!!
